Yellow powder, melting point 317 ℃. It turns slightly green when heated at 150 ℃ for 20min. The density is 1.24-1.53g/cm3. It is red light detection color in concentrated sulfuric acid, and brown light red after dilution; It is brown light yellow in concentrated nitric acid. This product is better than C.I. Pigment Yellow 1 has strong solvent resistance and migration resistance, high coloring power, good light resistance and transparency.

Pigment Yellow 12 is an organic compound and an azo compound. It is a widely used yellow pigment. It is also classified as a diarylide pigment, being derived from 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine. It is closely related to Pigmento Amarelo 13, wherein the two phenyl groups are replaced by 2,4-xylyl.
